Step 3 – 3rd R = Realize
Isaiah 43:1-3
The daily flow:
1. Pray
2. Read through the devotional verse/s out loud.
3. Review your previous notes, and jot down any new thoughts or ideas.
4. Assignment for today
Today we will Realize what God is saying personally to us through this verse. We do this by taking the main Gemstone verse plus the supporting verses you found in yesterdays Step 2 and personalize them into a note from Abba specifically to you.
Don’t panic, we are not adding to or taking away the true meaning of the Gemstone scriptures. We are only personalizing God’s Word to read like a note/letter from Him to you.
How do we do that? Simply by:
- Adding your name in various sections of the verse
- Using “I” statements
- Writing from the author’s point of view or perspective. (This is called writing in first person.)
EXAMPLE OF SIMPLE METHOD
See how simple it is to personalize God’s Word? Even though the original scripture was God speaking to the nation of Israel, the truth is just as applicable to us, His redeemed children.
Practice the Simple method until you are comfortable with personalizing the Gemstone verse/s. You would use the same method for your supporting verses.
Once you are comfortable, you can group the truths from the supporting Sparkle verses with your main verse and create an expanded personalized note from Abba.
EXAMPLE OF EXPANDED METHOD:
Expanded Personal Note from God ~ Example using Isaiah 43:1:
Based on my Sparkle words from yesterdays Step 2: created, formed, afraid, and ransomed, I selected the following verses:
- Gen 1:27 So God created human beings in his own image.
- Gen 2:7 Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.
- Jer 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
- Jn 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
As I reviewed my Sparkle verses, this thought came to me. Therefore, I wrote this in my journal also.
I see is that my Savior is “hands-on” in my life. I am not just one of seven billion people. Yahweh personally created, cares, watches over, protects and has awesome plans for me. How humbling to see that the Creator of all there is would care enough to have a relationship with us. I can rely on Him. Yahweh knows me inside and out. Moreover, He knows me better than I know myself!
My EXPANDED Journal Entry
My EXPANDED Journal entry from my Gemstone verse and my Sparkle verses combined. This is what my Abba (daddy) is personally telling me: My additions to verse one are in pink.
Listen to me, Bonnie my child; I AM the Lord who created you in my image (from Gen 1:26-27). I AM the one who formed you and breathed my breath of life into your nostrils (from Gen 2:7). And I tell you “do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you with the Life of My Unique Son (from John3:16). I have called you by name Bonnie; you are mine. I have plans for you Bonnie; they are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope (from Jer 29:11).
For me, my ‘God’ journals are my communication logs with my Abba (daddy God). I can tell Him everything, and I MEAN EVERYTHING. It’s my ‘Psalms’ of Bonnie. Yahweh (the name of God) does not judge or condemn. He gently, like the Father He is, instructs and guides us on our journey.
As I have stated previously, I’ve been using this technique for many years. This method works best for me and I have grown closer to my Abba and have seen where I am able to stand against the enemy more so now than in the past.
