25 Quotes of Jesus Regarding His Return aka Second Coming

In this series, we have already looked at many quotes of Jesus from His final week of Passover, including the events up to His ascension. However, the events pertaining to Christ don’t end there. Today, we will review 25 Quotes of Jesus regarding His return aka His Second Coming.

We saw in my last posting of Quotes of Jesus; That the Angels declared His return to the disciples:

“Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.” Acts 1:9-11

Jesus made it clear that He would return as a Conquering King. Below are the quotes I have selected that make it clear that He is returning. Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies with His first coming. We can be sure that the prophecies of His second coming will be fulfilled as well.

The Apostle John sees Jesus Christ

As you read the below quotes here are a few things to remember.

  • Jesus is no longer a babe in a manger.
  • Jesus is not dead in a tomb.
  • Jesus is the resurrected God.
  • Jesus is the Conquering King returning to reign for 1000 years.
  • Jesus will pass judgment on every created entity.

Johns Description of Jesus the Christ

Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me:”

“Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” – Rev 1:12-18

Christ on a White Horse

John shares his vision of Jesus’ return:

“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness, He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.  Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:”

KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” – Rev 19:11-16
