In my last post, I shared 9 of my favorite quotes of Jesus during His last week of Passover. You can read them here. In this post, I will be sharing 25 further quotes of Jesus from Passover week covering the period from Jesus’ final Passover meal through His crucifixion.
I have taken the quotes from the New King James Version Bible. My prayer is that you will understand how much Jesus Christ loves you. He willingly endured the humiliation, and torture, and paid the ultimate price for our rebellion against God. Because of this great price every human has the opportunity to live eternally in His kingdom, instead of Satan’s.
Quotes of Jesus from The Final Passover Meal
I wonder how we would act or feel in the place of Jesus, knowing that we are eating the last meal we would have with our loved ones? Moreover, if you shared that information for support, would they be there for you when as they say the rubber meets the road?
#1 – One of You Will Betray Me…
When Jesus sat down to eat with His disciples, He stated:
“Assuredly, I say to you, one of you who eats with Me will betray Me.”
Jesus of Nazareth – Mat 26:21
“The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.”
Jesus of Nazareth – Mat 26:24
#2 – My Body
As Jesus and His disciples were eating, Jesus took the bread, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to the disciples saying:
“This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
Jesus of Nazareth – Lk 22:19

#3 – My Blood
Then Jesus took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying:
“Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins…
Jesus of Nazareth – Mat 26:27-28
#4 – The Declaration
“I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
Jesus of Nazareth – Mat 26:29
#5 – Jesus’ Warning to Peter
“Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”
Jesus of Nazareth – LK 22:31-32
I am comforted by knowing that Jesus is interceding for us, protecting us from Satan. How many times we would have perished, had not Jesus prayed for us! We can rest in the knowledge that Satan must get permission from his Creator before he can sift us!
#6 – One More Thing You Should Know
““I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.”
Jesus of Nazareth – Lk 22:34
Quotes of Jesus Spoken from the Garden of Gethsemane
#7 – “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”
– Mat 26:38
#8 – “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”
– Mat 26:39
#9 – “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
– Mat 26:41
#10 – “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.”
– Mat 26:42
#11 – “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”
– Mk 14:36
The agony of Jesus is so great that He actually sweats drops of blood. The official name of this condition is Hematidrosis.
“He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.” – Luke 22:44
There is a great spiritual battle going on here that most FAIL TO REALIZE. Who’s will, will prevail? Remember Jesus had a choice, He did not have to go through with the most painful, demoralizing, humiliating death the Roman army could conceive!
“No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded.” – John 10:18 (NLT)
Quotes of Jesus from the Arrest in Gethsemane
#12 – “Friend, why have you come?”
– Mat 26:50
#13 – “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
– Lk 22:48

(To Peter)
#14 – “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?”
Jesus of Nazareth – Mat 26:52-53
Twelve legions of angels would have been approximately 36,000 angels waiting to help Jesus. Imagine the power considering that one angel killed up to 185,000 soldiers in one night. (2Ki 19:35). With all power at His disposal, Jesus is in total command. He is not the victim of circumstance, but He is managing circumstances for the fulfillment of prophecy.
The Quote of Jesus’ Answer to Caiaphas and the Sanhedrin
This was nothing more than a setup to Kill Jesus. This mock trial was illegal according to the Sanhedrin’s own laws and regulations. According to Jewish law, all criminal trials must begin and end in the daylight. Moreover, they were looking for a convincing enough lie to convict Jesus. Finally, Jesus was accused of blasphemy because He told the truth.

The high priest arose and said to Him, “Do You answer nothing? …But Jesus kept silent. Then the high priest said to Him, “I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!”
#15 – “It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
Jesus of Nazareth – Mat 26:62-64
In an article by Ray Stedman, he states: The high priest was stunned by Jesus’ silence, and so he did something absolutely illegal. He put Jesus under oath to testify against himself. “I demand in the name of the living God—tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.” This was a very solemn oath. In response to that, Jesus breaks his silence and answers the high priest’s question. Now what the priest is really asking is, “Are you the one who the Old Testament predicts will come, the Messiah, the Promised One? Are you the Son of God?” This is a clear-cut question directly placed and the high priest puts Jesus under oath to answer.
Luke 22:67-70 quotes Jesus’ answer this way:
“If I tell you, you will by no means believe. And if I also ask you, you will by no means answer Me or let Me go. Hereafter the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God.”
Jesus of Nazareth – LK 22:67-70
According to Ligonier.org: After the Roman general, Pompey got involved in a dispute between rival ruling factions in Judea in 63 B.C., the territories that belonged to the Jews became part of the Roman Empire. Rome allowed the Jews and other conquered peoples to have a measure of self-rule, and in the case of the Jews, the Sanhedrin was the highest court. The Sanhedrin, made up of “the chief priests and the elders and the scribes” could rule on religious matters, but it did not have the authority to carry out capital punishment.
Only the Romans had the authority to pronounce and enact a capital sentence. That is why the Sanhedrin, after deciding Jesus was worthy of death brought him to Pontius Pilate.
Quotes of Jesus to Pontius Pilate
Pilate: “Are You the King of the Jews?”
#16– “It is as you say.”
– Lk 23:3
#17 – “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”
Jesus of Nazareth – Jn 18:36
Pilate: “Are You a king then?”
#18 – “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
Jesus of Nazareth – Jn 18:37

Pilate: Do You not know that I have the power to crucify You, and the power to release You?”
#19 – “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore, the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”
Jesus of Nazareth – Jn 19:10-11
This is one of my favorite quotes. God is in control. No one has power over us unless God allows it. And if God allows it, I can rest assured it is for my benefit. Period!
Moreover, those in leadership positions around the world would do well to remember that they are in their places because the Lord God Almighty has allowed them to be there for His purposes to be fulfilled!
“The Son of God stood, as a criminal, before a mortal man, and there permitted himself to be accused and condemned, that we may stand boldly before God.”
John Calvin
The Via Dolorosa Quote of Jesus
The Via Dolorosa literally means “the sorrowful way,”. It is the traditional route in Jerusalem that our Lord traveled on the day of His crucifixion from the judgment seat of Pilate, also called the Praetorium, to the place of His crucifixion on Mount Calvary.
The weight of the entire cross was typically 300 pounds. The victim only carried the crossbar, which weighed anywhere from 75 to 125 pounds. When the victim carried the crossbar, he was usually stripped naked, and his hands were often tied to the wood. The upright beams of a cross were usually permanently fixed in a visible place outside of the city walls, beside a major road.
#20 – “Daughters of Jerusalem do not weep for Me but weep for yourselves and for your children. For indeed the days are coming in which they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, wombs that never bore, and breasts which never nursed!”
Jesus of Nazareth – Lk 22:28-29
The allusion, in the first place, was to the awful siege of Jerusalem and to the undreamed-of woes which would accompany it; and in the second place, to the centuries of misery and persecution to which the children of these “daughters of Jerusalem’’ would, as Jews, be subjected in all lands. (Pulpit Commentary)
Quotes of Jesus from the Cross
Mark 15:25 states: It was nine o’clock in the morning when they crucified Jesus.
#21 – “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”
Jesus of Nazareth – Lk 23:34
One of the criminals who were hanged beside Jesus said: “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” Jesus responded:
#22 – “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Jesus of Nazareth – Lk 23:42-43
Oh, how we can Be Encouraged that up until our lost loved ones or friends’ final breath there is forgiveness for sins! Nothing can separate us from the love of the Creator of All!
#23 – “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” … “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
Jesus of Nazareth – Mat 27:46
#24 – “It… is… finished!”
Jesus of Nazareth – Jn 19:30
Jesus’ final word (tetelestai in ancient Greek) is the cry of a winner. Jesus had finished the eternal purpose of the cross. It stands today as a finished work, the foundation of all Christian peace and faith, paying in full the debt we righteously owe to God.
#25 – “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.”
Jesus of Nazareth – Lk 23:46
READ: A Physician Analyzes the Crucifixion
Most scholars agree that there are about 300 prophecies in the Old Testament that speak of the first coming of Jesus. Many of these are repetitive. Therefore, we find that when the repetitions are removed, it leaves more than 100 prophecies that Jesus Christ fulfilled. Since Christ fulfilled those prophecies we can be sure He will fulfill the prophecies of His second coming.
Jesus himself decided when he would take his last breath! No one else! No man on earth, nor any demon in hell and especially Satan who could not wait for the crucifixion had any say when Jesus would take his last breath!
Therefore, as a child of the Most-High God, heir to the Kingdom of God, no man on earth, nor any demon in hell, and especially Satan the accuser can say when you take your last breath! Only Yahweh your Creator has that ability!
This Heavenly love story did not end with the burial of Jesus the Messiah… His resurrection is coming…
