Recently, I shared an overview from the book of 1 John. Today, I want to share what came alive in me while I was feeding myself nourishment from Ephesians chapter One.
We Need Nourishment from Our Creator God
We must continually feed ourselves from the Truth of God’s Word if we are to grow and understand the world system which we were born into. Just as we feed our bodies for nourishment and growth, so also we must feed our spiritual bodies the Word of God for our nourishment and growth.
Before reading the Word of God, I find that it helps to ask the Lord to reveal what He wants me to see and understand in our time together. I have been doing a personal study concerning spiritual warfare. Something we all are involved in, but very few realize. I intend to share with anyone I can the truths that the Lord has been revealing to me during this study.
We must wake up
In this study, I knew what I was reading was Truth. However, understanding the implications and my part in this war as an heir through Christ was not as clear as it should be.
That dear friend is because our enemy likes it that way. Most of us who love the Lord and follow Him have been lulled into complacency.
Moreover, many of us do not realize this fact. Like Dorothy, we have fallen asleep in the beautiful field of poppies. zzzzzz…
We must WAKE UP from our slumber and put the demonic realm on notice. WE WILL NOT CONTINUE TO SNOOZE AWAY THE TIME ANY LONGER by the trickster! Souls are at stake! Begin today! Get in the Word and discover all that Jesus Christ has provided for us to fight in this battle.
My Nourishment from Ephesians One
I hope what I was nourished from in this chapter will also nourish you. The verse numbers are provided. By reading chapter one the Lord may show you other things. That is what is so awesome about the Word of God. God shows us what we need for where we are, at that specific moment in time. You can read the same chapter or verse at a later time and a new understanding may be revealed!
ALL BECAUSE OF JESUS CHRIST I am…
In this chapter, I see that ALL BECAUSE OF JESUS CHRIST, my Loving Father God has:
- Eph 1:3 …blessed me with EVERY [not some, but every] spiritual blessing in the heavenly places IN CHRIST
- Eph 1:4 … chosen me IN CHRIST …before the foundation of the world, that I should be holy and without blame before Him in love
- Eph 1:5 …predestined me to adoption as [His daughter/son] by JESUS CHRIST to Himself, according to the good pleasure of [my Fathers] will
ALL BECAUSE OF JESUS CHRIST I Have:
- Eph 1:6 I have been accepted to the praise of the glory of [my Fathers] grace, in the Beloved. [JESUS CHRIST]
- Eph 1:7-8 IN JESUS CHRIST, I have redemption through His blood
- and forgiveness of my sins, according to the riches of [my Father’s] grace which [my Father] made to abound toward me in all wisdom and prudence
- Eph 1:11-12 IN JESUS CHRIST I have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of [my Father] who works all things according to the counsel of [my Fathers] will,
Why has Our Loving Father done all this?
- Eph 1:9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,
- Eph 1:10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.
- Eph 1:12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
Jesus Christ IS Our Nourishment, THE Word of Truth
Eph 1:13 IN JESUS CHRIST I trusted after I heard the Word of Truth, the gospel of my salvation…
Jesus Christ is the Word of Truth
In John chapter one we see that: In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. John 1:1-4
Moreover, in the second half of Eph 1:13, it states:…in whom also, having believed, I have been sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 states: [the Holy Spirit] is the guarantee of my inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
Never Fear, Never Doubt!
Never fear the enemy! Never allow yourself to accept the lie that you are worthless. In Christ, because of His shed blood and because of His love, we are victorious warriors in His service! The Lord has given us all we need to set those captive, like what we ONCE were free!
With that in mind, Paul closes the chapter with a prayer of petition to the Lord for the church in Ephesus.
How do you pray when you don’t know what to pray?
How do you pray when you don’t know what to pray? I find the scriptures that speak to my situation and pray the Word back to God!
Declare the Word! Give thanks using the Word. Rebuke and cast out using the Word. Sing the Word!
I believe the prayer that Paul prayed for the church in Ephesus is an excellent Spiritual Warfare prayer.
We are in the midst of a spiritual battle. This battle is for the souls of the lost. Likewise, the battle is also for Followers of Christ who are being attacked.
Prayer is our offensive weapon against the enemy of darkness. It is our number one go-to source. It is imperative that we as believers use this powerful weapon.
What good is a soldier that does not use the weapons supplied to him for the battle? Through Christ, and because of His shed blood on the cross, the demonic realm is defeated and we are Victorious!
What powerful prayer warriors we will become by praying the Word of God! The demons flee in the name of Jesus! Use the authority that is yours through and in Christ our King of kings and Lord of lords and soon returning Messiah!
Ephesians 1:17-23
Here is how I have taken Paul’s prayer and made it into my own personal prayer.
My Precious Heavenly Father,
Lord in these days of chaos and turmoil, may you increase in me your Spirit of wisdom and greater revelation of the knowledge of Jesus Christ. I desire more of you Lord.
In your body of believers, here in my community, my country and around the world may we increase in wisdom and greater knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Remove the blinders from my eyes and those of your followers so that we may have that aha moment. That moment when you enlighten our understanding. May your Word leap from the pages we read in your Word into our hearts with a burning fire of what is our Hope in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Cause me to grow and understanding all that you Lord have provided so that I and all believers understand what are the riches of the glory of our inheritance as adopted sons and daughters.
Moreover, Lord may we take the understanding given to us and spread the same to the lost held captive by the enemy.
Abba, I thank you for the exceeding greatness of the power of Jesus Christ given to us who believe in Him.
Through Jesus Christ we have everything to we need to fulfill the great commission of Christ to reach the world according to the working of your mighty power which you Father worked in Christ when You raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand in the heavenly places.
I willingly bow my knee to Jesus Christ who is far above ALL principalities, powers, might and dominion. Christ is far above Every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
Moreover, Father, I praise you for putting all things under the feet of Jesus. My Lord, Jesus Christ is head over All things to the church, which is His body. Fill us continually with the fullness of Christ who fills all in all.
Lord with all you have done for us and provided for us, how can we not in obedience, stand against the darkness and share Your light with others to rescue them from the prison in which they are being held?
In the Name that is Above all names, Jesus Christ
For Your Glory
Amen
