22 Quotes of Jesus – Signs of the Times & the End of the Age

For the next installment in the “Quotes of Jesus” series, I have gathered 22 quotes of Jesus talking with His disciples concerning the Signs of the Times & the End of the Age.

Notice that it is not the end of the world (although many will wish it was) but the end of the age. Jesus Christ will return and reign righteously for 1000 years after the close of this age. How awesome! However, before then, there will be a catastrophic period of 7 years of horrendous events due to the rebellion of mankind against his Creator led by a One World Ruler (think Great Reset & WEF/UN agenda now being put in place).

In the past, I have posted various articles concerning the Signs of the Times and the End of the Age. In one of those posts, I said “There is a burning in my heart to awaken the slumbering believer’s heart. Our Lord’s return is close at hand. Will we be ready, or will The Lord find us sleeping and unprepared for His return?”

The burning is still there. It is past time to wake up the church and wake up the unbeliever. Our only HOPE is Jesus Christ! His return is soon!

The Disciples Question Jesus

Jesus and His disciples were leaving the temple and were headed toward the Mount of Olives which was opposite the temple. The Bible states:

Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” – Matthew 24:1-2

As Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked the Lord privately to tell them when will all these things would take place (Mk 13:3). Their actual question was “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?” (Mk 13:4) Below is Jesus’ answer to their questions.

An Overview of the Signs

“Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.” – Mt 24:4-5

“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” – Mt 24:6-7a

“There will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” – Mt 24:7b-8

Jesus Speaking of the Great Tribulation Signs

“When you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.” – Mt 24:15-20
“In those days there will be tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the creation which God created until this time, nor ever shall be.And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days.” – Mk 13:19-20
“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘Look, He is there!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” – Mk 13:21-22
“If they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it.” – Mt 24:26
BUT TAKE HEED; SEE, I HAVE TOLD YOU ALL THINGS BEFOREHAND.” – Mk 13: 23

Signs Prior to Jesus’ Return

But in those days, after the tribulation…Mk 13:24

“There will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” – Lk 21:25-26
“As the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. – Mt 24:14
“Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” – Lk 21:27
“Then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of the earth to the farthest part of heaven.” – Mk 13:27

However, No One Knows the Day or Hour

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” – Mk 13:32

As the Days of Noah

“As the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” – Mt 24:37-39

The Importance of Watching

“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” – Luke 21:34-36

“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” – Lk 21:28

Let Us Remember…

Let us remember that God has given us His Word to prepare us for what is to come. The bible is 1/3 prophecy. 1/2 of the prophecies have come to pass precisely as God said they would. Therefore, we can be sure that the rest of them will be filled as well.

God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
