Welcome to the Twilight Zone

Here we are almost 6 months behind us in this most unique year in my lifetime. Moreover, I am wondering if I am the only one that feels like we have, in a twinkling of an eye entered the “Twilight Zone“?

I do not know about you but I am having a wee bit of a problem wrapping my head around what is unfolding before my very eyes. You would think that being a follower of Jesus Christ and a student of End Times Prophecy I would not be so shocked at the events unfolding around us. After all, Jesus warned us in Matthew 24 what it would be like before He returned to set up His Kingdom here on earth in Jerusalem, Israel.

Attitudes of People

We see also in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 what mankind will be like. Paul shared with Timothy that the last days will be very difficult times. Beginning with verse 2 he goes on to say:

For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly.2 Timothy 3:2-5

Did You Ever Imagine?

This is exactly what we see all around us. Yet even though the Lord warned us, it is a very sad thing to watch. I find myself saying “I never imagined in my lifetime“. I knew it would come because I believe in the absolute truth of God’s Word! He has prepared us for such a time as this.

  • I tell you this beforehand so that when it happens you will believe that I Am the Messiah.John 13:19
  • I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe.John 14:29

However, I find myself dealing with different emotions such as:

  • denial
  • anger
  • bargaining
  • depression
  • acceptance

I was talking with a friend who also is experiencing similar emotions. It dawned on me that these are the same emotions I felt at the loss of my spouse. I am experiencing grief over the loss of a Nation and people once blessed by God Almighty. A nation that has long ago turned it’s back on the One Person who is the answer to all their questions. I mourn because of friends and family that have no relationship with the Creator who loves them even more than I do and will not listen to the truth of God’s Word.

It’s OK to Grieve

And it’s OK to grieve and mourn. Jesus told His disciples that:

“you will weep and mourn over what is going to happen to me, but the world will rejoice. You will grieve, but your grief will suddenly turn to wonderful joy.”John 16:20

in the twinkling

And then, at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” – Matthew 24:30

So even though it feels like an epsode of the Twilight Zone, we can be encouraged because the Bridegroom has prepared a place for us and will soon return to get His Bride before the Wrath of God will be revealed upon those who have rejected His offer of eternal life.

So I want to encourage you to hold on, share the love and message of Christ while there is still time. Moreover, keep an eye on the clouds for our catching away is imminent!

1 Thessalonians 5

“Now concerning how and when all this will happen, dear brothers and sisters, we don’t really need to write you. For you know quite well that the day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. When people are saying, “Everything is peaceful and secure,” then disaster will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant woman’s labor pains begin. And there will be no escape.

But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief. For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night.

So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. Night is the time when people sleep and drinkers get drunk. But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.

For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. 10 Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever. 11 So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.”1 Thess 5:1-11

Wow! Loved latest post. Very well written.. wonder why people are so anxious to get out to Walmart with those that they do not know but will not go back to church. Also people are at an insane pace racing to eat at newly opened restaurants, sitting near people they don’t know, while not wanting to return to God’s house.

Thanks for the encouragement! It’s all about priorities and unfortunately, Meeting together to worship God is not one of them.
