Lucifer aka Satan is shrewd, the biggest lier in these here parts, and a no good for nothing varmint, Uh oh, my Gun Smoke days are surfacing. Well, I am a Grammy after all….. The serpent was the shrewdest of all…Genesis 3:1 Satan’s character is deceitful, devious, and cunning and he seeks to influence people for his own ends.
Let’s take a moment to review his history, his current workings and the future of this fallen angel who once was an exalted being.
When God Created Lucifer he Was:
- Adorned with every precious stone
- A mighty angelic guardian
- Exquisite in beauty
- Full of wisdom
- Had access to the holy mountain of God
- He was blameless…until
- The model of perfection
… “You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and exquisite in beauty.
You were in Eden, the garden of God. Your clothing was adorned with every precious stone-red carnelian, pale-green peridot, white moonstone, blue-green beryl, onyx, green jasper, blue lapis lazuli, turquoise, and emerald— all beautifully crafted for you and set in the finest gold. They were given to you on the day you were created. I ordained and anointed you as the mighty angelic guardian. You had access to the holy mountain of God and walked among the stones of fire. “You were blameless in all you did from the day you were created until…. Ezekiel 28:12-15
Until Lucifer’s Rebellion…
…until the day evil was found in you. Your rich commerce led you to violence, and you sinned. So I banished you in disgrace from the mountain of God. I expelled you, O mighty guardian, from your place among the stones of fire. Your heart was filled with pride because of all your beauty. Your wisdom was corrupted by your love of splendor. So I threw you to the ground and exposed you to the curious gaze of kings… Ezekiel 28:15-19
Satan’s Pride was His Undoing
How devastating to Satan this must have been. He was created as a beautiful mighty angelic guardian with the most captivating musical voice which led angelic beings in worship unto their creator. However, he decided that he was determined to become higher than his Creator. Not only did he rebel against the Most High God, but he also convinced one-third of the angelic realm to join him in his attempted coo. Yes, Satan is shrewd and he also is cunning, and much more.
Satan declared that:
How you are fallen from heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world. For you said to yourself, ‘I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north. I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High….Isaiah 14:12-14
Therefore since Satan was thrown down to the earth he has become the prince of this world, having power over demons and over godless people. Satan continues to oppose God’s righteousness, God’s purposes and constantly blasphemes God.
Who is Satan Now?
- A Liar
- A deceptive spirit
- A murderer
- An ancient serpent
- A Master of many disguises
- A thief
- Our greatest enemy
- The father of lies
- The god of this world
- The great dragon
- The commander of the powers in the unseen world
- The devourer
He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies…John 8:44
I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming…John 14:30 ESV
This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil or Satan…Revelation 12:9
Satan, who is the god of this world, …2 Corinthians 4:4
You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world…Ephesians 2:2-3
So, in conclusion, keep in mind that Satan is a shrewd being and hates your guts. He will do whatever it takes to convince you that Creator God is the enemy. He will promise anything to reach his goal. His main goal is to get you to convince you that The true God of the bible is the bad guy so you will follow and worship Satan the deceiver.
