How to Crochet the Midnight Mobius Twist Wrap

This is my second Mobius wrap. I call this wrap the Midnight Mobius Twist Wrap. My first Mobius wrap pictured below, was for my friend. CLICK HERE for the pattern instructions. This second one is for me, maybe.

My first Mobius wrap for my friend

I have done my best to write out the instructions for the Midnight Mobius Twist Wrap. I have tried to keep the directions as simple as possible. Hopefully, with the photos, my instructions will not be difficult to follow. Since this is my second time creating instructions I hope you will be merciful in critiquing my instructions. However, please let me know how I can improve them.

Summary of rows/rounds (pictures below)

  • 1 row/round of SC
  • 9 rows/rounds using the V stitch (2DC,C2,2DC) repeat
  • 3 rows/rounds using the chain 5 mesh stitch
  • 1 row/round using a 4DC shell stitch/2DC repeat
  • 1 row/round using a 6DC/C2/SC/C2 repeat
  • 1 row/round using a 9DC shell stitch
  • 1 row/round using 5DC,1TC,5DC shell

Notes:

  • To determine how long your starting chain should be, measure the diameter of your upper chest with your arms by your side and leave a little wiggle room. Chain until you reach the measurement taken.
  • Due to the requirements of the V stitch, your starting chain must be divisible by 4 + 1 for joining. (I wear a 2X so my chain contained 145 stitches).
  • It helps to place a stitch marker at the top of each new row.
  • Once you begin row 1, you will be working in a figure 8 shape, keep stitching until you reach your stitch marker placed in the first stitch of the round.

Here’s How to keep your starting chain from Becoming Twisted

  • After you have made a short chain of 5 or 6 stitches, remove your hook from the chain.
  • Slip the first chain onto your hook for ‘safekeeping’.
  • Then continue to chain where you left off until you reach the needed length for your size.
  • Take the first and last chain stitch (which are both on your hook) and join with a slip stitch. How cool is that? Very cool!
