In the days we live there are many corrupt and unjust people in authority that can be bribed or blackmailed for the desired outcome someone prefers. Not so with our Creator God. He is the God of Justice.
Moreover, the moral righteousness of God is revealed in His laws and expressed in His judicial acts.
God’s commands and judgments meet perfect standards of justice, and His punishments and rewards are also perfectly just. By reviewing the scriptures below you will have a better understanding of the justice of God.

- Jeremiah 17:10 – But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives.
I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.” - Matthew 16:27 – For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father and will judge all people according to their deeds.

And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds.
God’s Justice Is Not Always Immediate
Psalm 73:3-4 For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness. They seem to live such painless lives.
Jeremiah Questions the Lord’s Justice

What have we gained by obeying his commands or by trying to show the Lord of Heaven’s Armies that we are sorry for our sins? 15 From now on we will call the arrogant blessed. For those who do evil get rich, and those who dare God to punish them suffer no harm.’”
The Martyred Questions God
Revelation 6:10 – They shouted to the Lord and said, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you judge the people who belong to this world and avenge our blood for what they have done to us?”
However, Justice Will Come in Due Time
- Deuteronomy 32:35 – I will take revenge; I will pay them back. In due time their feet will slip. Their day of disaster will arrive, and their destiny will overtake them.

The God of Justice Warns Before Punishing
- 2 Chronicles 36:15 -The Lord, the God of their ancestors, repeatedly sent his prophets to warn them, for he had compassion on his people and his Temple.
- Jeremiah 7:13 – While you were doing these wicked things, says the Lord, I spoke to you about it repeatedly, but you would not listen. I called out to you, but you refused to answer.
- Jonah 3:4 -On the day Jonah entered the city, he shouted to the crowds: “Forty days from now Nineveh will be destroyed!”
- Hebrews 12:25 – Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven!
You warned them to return to your Law, but they became proud and obstinate and disobeyed your commands. They did not follow your regulations, by which people will find life if only they obey. They stubbornly turned their backs on you and refused to listen. 30 In your love, you were patient with them for many years. You sent your Spirit, who warned them through the prophets. But still, they wouldn’t listen! So once again you allowed the peoples of the land to conquer them.
Nehemiah 9:29-30
God Gives Opportunity for People to Change Their Ways
- 1 John 1:9 – But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
- Jeremiah 7:5-7 – But I will be merciful only if you stop
- your evil thoughts and deeds and
- treating each other with justice; 6only if you stop
- exploiting foreigners, orphans, and widows; only if you stop
- your murdering; and only if you stop
- harming yourselves by worshiping idols. 7Then I will let you stay in this land that I gave to your ancestors to keep forever.
- Jeremiah 18:8-10 – but then that nation renounces its evil ways, I will not destroy it as I had planned. And if I announce that I will plant and build up a certain nation or kingdom, but then that nation turns to evil and refuses to obey me, I will not bless it as I said I would.
25…Listen to me, O people of Israel. Am I the one not doing what’s right, or is it you?
26 When righteous people turn from their righteous behavior and start doing sinful things, they will die for it. Yes, they will die because of their sinful deeds.
27And if wicked people turn from their wickedness, obey the law, and do what is just and right, they will save their lives. 28 They will live because they thought it over and decided to turn from their sins. Such people will not die.
29 And yet the people of Israel keep saying, ‘The Lord isn’t doing what’s right!’ O people of Israel, it is you who are not doing what’s right, not I.
30 “Therefore, I will judge each of you, O people of Israel, according to your actions, says the Sovereign Lord. Repent, and turn from your sins. Don’t let them destroy you! 31 Put all your rebellion behind you and find yourselves a new heart and a new spirit.
For why should you die, O people of Israel? 32 I don’t want you to die, says the Sovereign Lord. Turn back and live!
Ezekiel 18:25-32

Maranatha! Until next time, I am Passionately Loving Jesus, the Anchor of my Soul.
Romans 3:25-26 – For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, 26 for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.
