What is the truth? Does it even exist and if it does, how do we find it? Is truth subjective, relative, or absolute? After all just because it’s true for you doesn’t mean it’s true for me. Right?
Have you ever heard anyone say this? Quite possibly, you may be the one that has said this or at least thinks it. We live in a time period where truth is shunned and lies and deceptions are “normal”. So normal in fact that we begin to believe that these lies are actually the truth.
But [in those days] false [liars] prophets arose among the people, just as there will be false [liers] teachers among you, who will subtly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master [Jesus Christ] who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their shameful ways, and because of them, the way of truth will be maligned. 3 And in their greed, they will exploit you with false arguments and twisted doctrine. [lies, lies, and more lies.] 2 Peter 2:1-3
In the Beginning
To begin with, this started in the Garden of Eden when the fallen angel we call Satan confronted Eve. Satan asked, “Did God really say” and then he proceeded to ad his lie to what God had actually said. Satan hasn’t changed his modus operandi.
Is truth subjective, relative, or absolute? Humanity says yes, but the highest Authority that trumps our “wisdom” is found in the Word of God, the Christian Bible. However, it is my desire to equip and encourage you with the Truth which only comes from God, the creator of things seen and unseen. His Word is not subjective, or relative. His Word is absolute.
Incidentally, just so you are aware, battling the lies and deceptions around us today is called spiritual warfare, and we must stand against it with the Whole Armor of God.
Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil for we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places… Eph 6:10-12
Therefore my desire is to help you in the ongoing battle by sharing scriptures that have helped me throughout my life. I hope you will be encouraged. Stand strong in the Lord!
