I hope you have had the opportunity to meditate on the quotes of Jesus that I have previously posted in this series. What a great opportunity for a personal or home group topical Bible study. Today, we will look at a few of the many quotes of Jesus regarding the Father’s heart.
The Father, My Father, Your Father Quotes
Jesus had much to say concerning our Father in heaven. Out of curiosity, I did a phrase search using the online Blue Letter Bible to see how many verses Jesus used the phrase “Father”, in each of the Gospels. Using the New King James Version here is what I found.
The Gospel of:
- Matthew contained 37 verses
- Mark only had 5 verses
- Luke had 11 verses
- John contained 96 verses!
“God is our Father not only in that he is our Creator but that he is also our Redeemer; this is what distinguishes the Christian’s relationship to God and what allows us to relate to him as Father.”

14 “The Father” Quotes Of Jesus
Here is a question I have been pondering. Why did Jesus use the phrase “the Father” as in the quotes below instead of using the phrase “my Father” as He did in the above quotes? Almost every statement below would make sense if you read it using “My” instead of “the”. Please leave a comment below with your thoughts and ideas.
