Next to Satan, we are the most self-centered of all God’s creation. It’s all about what we want and pursuing our wants above all else. Once we obtain one “want”, we have to have another “want”. What if we made the decision to pursue Jesus Christ and His “wants” for us. What if we made a covenant with the Lord and declared in this covenant: Not my will but Yours be done?
How drastic of a change would our lives display?
There is nothing as important as making the statement “Not my will but Yours be done” your daily goal. How different our world would be if we allowed the King of kings and Lord of lords to BE the King of kings and Lord of lords of our lives.
I must admit that even when we “do things we want” in the Name of Jesus, we may think we are “doing” what God wants us to “do”. That may not be the case. That is not to say stop “doing”. I am a great “doer” thank you very much!
But my “doing” even the “Lord’s work” might be my will and what I WANT TO DO and not what HE WANTS at this particular moment. If we are not sensitive to the Holy Spirit and listening to what God is saying, we will eventually become frustrated in our “doing for Him”. We must learn to live in the covenant of Not my will but Yours be done.
Larnell Harris wrote a song that speaks volumes to me titled: I Miss My Time with You. You can read the lyrics below:
I Miss My Time With You
There He was just waiting, in our old familiar place. An empty spot beside Him, where once I used to wait. To be filled with strength and wisdom for the battles of the day. I would have passed Him by again if I didn't hear Him say... Chorus
"I miss my time with you. Those moments together. I need to be with you each day, and it hurts Me when you say: You're too busy, Busy trying to serve Me. But how can you serve Me when your spirits empty? There's a longing in My heart. Wanting more than just a part of you. It's true, I miss My time with you"
What will I have to offer? How can I truly care? My efforts have no meaning when Your presence isn't there. But You'll provide the power if I take time to pray. I'll stay right here beside You and You'll never have to say ...
We must pursue with a passion, the One who loves us more than life. In actuality, it’s Him that we want. However, until we realize this we will continue to fill our longing with all the counterfeits “wants” this world system offers.
All are but counterfeits of the Original. Isn’t that what Satan is best at? Getting us to believe his lies?
I want to covenant with you: Not my will but Yours be done!
I will bow my knee in worship and seek your face.
It's my desire to sit at your feet.
Because I love you I will wait for you with anticipation.
I am nothing without you my Savior and King.
I long for your presence which lives in me
to be manifested in your ways, not mine.
Help me Lord to be still and know that You are God.
And to cast aside all else but You!
In the Precious Name of Jesus.
Until we meet again, I am, Passionately Loving Jesus, The Anchor of my soul!
If you are not yet a follower of Christ, know that God loves you and is longing for a RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU! It is not a coincidence that you have come across this website and especially this article. God has an awesome plan for your life!
